Touring the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, Ireland is close to the top of most tourists to-do lists when they visit Dublin. Adding the Guinness Academy is an easy way to level up that tour, and the overall experience.

For the purposes of this post, I won’t go too much into the actual tour. The main focus will be the actual Guinness Academy add on.

The Guinness Academy is an add on to the normal tour at the Guiness Storehouse in Dublin (which can be purchased here).

Once you arrive at the Guinness Academy room, you will be assigned an instructor. This is who is going to teach you how to pour the perfect pint. The size of the groups vary, but our group was 5 people.

The instructor will start by demonstrating how to make the first part of the pour, while explaining what they are doing, and why they are doing that. The steps are simple and very easy to follow along with.

After you finish the first part of the pour comes the VERY important rest.

Once you finish letting your pint rest, it is time to top it off. This part is quick and easy and gets that beautiful dome of foam over the top of the glass.

The last part might be the most important step of all. Now it is time to grab the friends you came with and enjoy your pint!

There is a cool bar area with tables in the Guinness Academy room that you can hang out in while you finish your pint. You can take pictures and just have some time to relax.

I was a little skeptical of adding this part onto my tour given the price of an extra €12, however it turned out to be well worth it. My wife isn’t a huge fan of Guinness, but really enjoyed this part. I can’t recommend the Guinness Academy enough!
